A cranial prosthesis is a specialized hair prosthetic designed for individuals experiencing hair loss due to medical conditions or treatment. Unlike fashion wigs, cranial prostheses are selected with comfort, scalp sensitivity, and daily wear in mind.
They are intended to help restore a natural appearance and support emotional well-being during hair loss.
While they may look similar, a cranial prosthesis is selected specifically for medical hair loss.
Key differences include:
• Designed with comfort and scalp sensitivity in mind
• Intended for daily wear during treatment or recovery
• May qualify for insurance reimbursement when medically necessary
Cranial prostheses are commonly used by women experiencing hair loss due to:
• Chemotherapy or radiation treatment
• Alopecia or autoimmune conditions
• Medical therapies or procedures
• Other medically related hair loss
